How can we assist you during a recruitment process?
Helpful tips and advice for candidates
-
- Prepare to talk about yourself and your background. This includes preparing a short but powerful "elevator pitch" that gives an overview of your skills and experience.
- Familiarize yourself with the position you're applying for, and think about what’s important for the employer to know about you in relation to this role.
- Learn about the company you're applying to, including their vision, values, and goals. This will show that you’ve done some research and are genuinely interested in the company.
- Think about what you can contribute to the company, and prepare examples of previous work or projects that show how you can be an asset.
- Ask thoughtful questions to the interviewer about the company and the role. This shows that you're interested and have considered what you'd like to know more about.
- Prepare to both ask and answer typical interview questions. This includes thinking about how you will describe your skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as how you’ll handle difficult questions that may come up during the interview.
- Make sure you have everything you need for the interview, including a copy of your resume and any references. It’s also a good idea to bring a notepad and pen so you can jot down things you want to remember to mention during the interview.
- Make a good effort to show that you're the right person for the role. You can do this by using examples from past experiences and demonstrating how you can contribute to the company.

Usually, you'll be one of several people called in for a first interview. It typically takes one to two weeks before you can expect feedback, as the recruiter and client will work together to determine which candidate is the best match for the role’s requirements.
If you’re one of the lucky ones who moves on to the next stage, this usually involves a testing phase. Typically, you’ll take a personality test (which is more of a description of your preferences than a test) and a cognitive abilities test (which measures your mental capacity and ability to think, learn, and solve problems).
You’ll then be contacted for a conversation about the results. This is a completely harmless phase—it’s simply to get to know you better and to understand your strengths and development areas.
Regardless of what happens after the first interview, it’s important to remember that not moving forward doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a bad candidate. Many factors influence who gets selected for further interviews and job offers, so it’s wise to focus on learning from the experience and continue applying for jobs you're interested in.

After going through your test results with a certified recruiter at LHH, you’ll move on to the next step—usually a new interview with the client. Typically, 2 to 4 candidates reach this phase.
This stage usually involves a deep-dive interview where you’ll discuss the test results and likely be given a relevant "case" to solve. You’ll either receive this in advance or during the meeting. You will be informed about this beforehand.
-
As mentioned earlier, there are usually 2 to 4 candidates in the final round. After that, the client and the LHH consultant will decide which candidate is the best overall match for the role. This decision is based on motivation, relevant experience, knowledge, education, background, etc.
You’ll then either receive a job offer or a rejection. Once again, it’s important to remember that this doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not a good candidate. Many factors influence the final decision, and it’s smart to focus on what you’ve learned from the experience and keep applying to roles that interest you.
