Project Manager Industrialization with Q-Free
Are you ready to industrialize and manage complex electronics production on a global scale?

Q-Free is a global leader in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). For more than four decades, we have developed technology that improves traffic flow, enhances road safety, reduces emissions, and enables secure, large-scale mobility systems worldwide. Our solutions combine advanced electronics, hardware, software, and systems that operate as payment-critical infrastructure in demanding environments across the globe.
To strengthen our Supply Chain organization within the Tolling Systems business area, we are now looking for a Project Manager Industrialization.
In this role, you will work closely with Q-Free’s production partners and Q-Free’s R&D organization in Trondheim where our electronics products are developed and designed. Together with a small team of HW and SW engineers, you will ensure that our complex products are produced, tested, traced, and maintained with the quality and reliability our customers depend on.
Your role at Q-Free
As Project Manager Industrialization, you will be part of the Supply Chain team in Trondheim, working at the intersection of electronics design and manufacturing.
The team is responsible for industrialization and continuous production of all roadside and on-board tolling products. This includes NPI initiatives, production capacity changes, and improvement projects for released products. The team designs and maintains all the production lines, including the development and integration of HW, and SW tests used throughout the production process.
In this role you will manage and coordinate industrialization projects and participate in change processes for the production of tolling systems across our manufacturing sites with particular focus on our EMS partner Norautron in Horten, where complex roadside equipment is manufactured, assembled and tested.
The role requires hands-on understanding of electronic hardware, production, and test setups.
You will report to the Supply Chain Manager Tolling Industrialization and Production, and work closely with our experienced NPI Manager, who holds overall architectural responsibility for new product introductions.
Occasional travel to production partners in Singapore and Norway is part of the role.
Key responsibilities include
Act as Q-Free’s primary technical point of contact toward one of our EMS partners, ensuring structured follow-up, prioritization, and resolution of production-related issues.
Plan, manage, and report on industrialization projects for Tolling products, with responsibility for scope, timelines, risk, and coordination across internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate product changes throughout the lifecycle of the products, ensuring structured handling of component changes, obsolescence, and production modifications, in close collaboration with NPI Manager, R&D and production partners.
Contribute to robust and continuously improving processes for hardware- and software-testing, quality control, labelling and traceability.
Contribute to long-term planning and continuous improvement of production lines, balancing operational support with a structured, forward-looking perspective.
Contribute to, and review, hardware design and HW/SW test solutions, ensuring that test setups support reliable production, quality verification, and lifecycle management.
What we’re looking for
The most important capacity you bring to this role is a solid foundation in electronic hardware engineering combined with 3+ years of experience from industrialization, production, test engineering, technical project management, or similar roles.
You should have a degree in electronics, electrical engineering, automation, or a closely related field, providing a solid understanding of electronic circuits and hardware design. Equivalent practical experience may compensate for formal education.
The role requires strong communication skills in English; Norwegian is a strong advantage, particularly in collaboration with local production partners.
We further believe you check off on most of the following points:
Experience with, or strong interest in, production processes and industrial thinking related to electronics manufacturing.
Some experience with technical project coordination or project leadership, but personal ownership, structure, and ability to drive tasks to completion are more important than formal project management certification.
Ability to understand commercial and operational implications of technical and production-related decisions.
Solid understanding of how hardware products move from design into production, including testing, documentation, and change handling.
Experience working close to manufacturing partners or production lines.
The ability to coordinate across disciplines without needing to be the deepest technical expert in every detail.
It is an advantage if you also have:
Experience with electronics design, embedded systems, or HW/SW integration.
Familiarity with quality systems, traceability, or lifecycle management in regulated or high-reliability environments.
Experience working with configurable or low-volume / high-complexity products.
Who you are as a person
You take responsibility for your work and follow tasks through until they are completed. You communicate clearly, bring structure to complex situations, and are comfortable working in an environment where not everything is fully defined from the start. You enjoy collaborating closely with engineers, production partners, and colleagues across disciplines, and you see value in building systems and processes that make everyday work more predictable and robust. You are comfortable discussing technical hardware topics with engineers and production partners, even if you are not the one designing the electronics yourself. You balance hands-on involvement with the ability to step back and plan ahead, and you are motivated by seeing advanced technology turn into reliable products used around the world.
Is Q-Free the right fit for you?
If you are motivated by turning advanced technology into reliable, real-world products, Q-Free offers an environment where your work truly matters. You will join a company where technical depth, collaboration, and ownership are valued, and where small, dedicated teams play a critical role in delivering payment-critical and safety-critical systems worldwide. If you enjoy working close to both engineering and production, taking responsibility, and contributing to solutions with real societal impact, you may be a great fit for Q-Free.
What we offer
A key role in bringing advanced, society-critical technology from development into real-world operation.
Close collaboration with skilled colleagues across R&D, test, production, and supply chain.
Direct involvement with manufacturing partners and insight into the full product lifecycle.
A work environment characterized by trust, openness, and short decision paths.
Flexibility in how you structure your work, within a supportive and professional framework.
Competitive compensation and benefits
